If you’re considering buying The Truth About Abs by Mike Geary, to lose that belly fat, or to work on developing a great six pack set of ripped abs, then my review of the book will (I hope) help you decide whether it is for you or not. My review of The Truth About Abs follows reading Mike Geary’s ebook from cover to cover (all 149 pages) and then implementing the recommendations into my daily life with the aim of getting a toned, ripped six pack. I’ve been open and honest throughout my review of The Truth About Abs with regard to the results I’ve achieved. I started in late April 2009, so I’ve had some time to really get to grips with the principles outlined in the ebook.
I know that making a decision to get into shape by losing the love handles and the flabby pot belly, increasing your metabolic rate and attempting to get a six pack while you’re at it can’t be taken lightly. It really is very tough. The first thing I had to do, before I even started looking for help and advice online, was to REALLY make a commitment to doing it and not just thinking about it. Life is busy and hectic for the vast majority of us, be it work or a family. There never seems to be enough hours in the day to get everything done. However, you have to try and MAKE time or you’ll never have the physique and (probably more importantly) the healthy lifestyle you dream of. I wasted so much time just thinking about starting to get into shape. You need to be decisive and start today. We all have our own reasons for wanting to get into shape, but I actually never thought that a six pack was an achievable goal for me, but today, I have the lean torso I’ve only ever dreamt of, because I unlocked the CORRECT way of doing things i.e. diet and exercise, through Mike Geary’s book.
Before I found The Truth About Abs, I’d spent many hours in the gym and knew that results were achieved with intelligent workouts, hard work and discipline. However, the visceral fat surrounding my internal organs was not only unhealthy, but made me look and feel terrible, made me tired and sluggish and really knocked my self esteem. Losing the belly fat was proving to be extremely difficult and non of the exercise regimes I used seem to work. Abdominal crunches, or sit ups made no difference in terms of getting a ripped six pack. I incorporated a cardio workout into my routine with the treadmill, ergos and even running around the park – but boredom set in very quickly and it started to get difficult to remain motivated.
After realizing that a personal trainer would break the bank, I turned to the internet to find some answers on losing belly fat, ab exercises and diet/nutrition regimes. The information on the net is mind blowing. There are so many conflicting reports as to what is right and what is wrong, that it is impossible to know where to start.
When I finally came across The Truth About Abs, I read the sales page with interest and took the plunge a few days later with the 21 day $4.95 trial. You get to download the entire book and take 21 days to decide whether it’s any good. This was a no brainer in my opinion. So I had nothing to lose and a six pack to gain.
The Truth About Abs Review – introduction
As I read through the first chapter, I quickly began to realize just how many mistakes I’d been making and how they were preventing me from developing a visible ripped six pack. However, it wasn’t until I started to implement the diets as well as the exercise regimes that I started to see results. Mike Geary’s background as a certified nutritionist and personal trainer, were invaluable in putting The Truth About Abs together as both nutrition and exercise are the pillars of an overall healthy and balanced body. It’s literally like having your own personal trainer and nutritionist without the cost.
Here is a list of just a few of the mistakes I was making:
• Not using multi joint exercises. Instead I would simply use single joint exercises (such as the dumbbel curl) that were doing nothing to rid me of my body fat. Multi joint exercises (such as squats and deadlifts) can be ten times more effective in keeping your “resting metabolic rate” high and continuously burning body fat.
• Over training and fatiguing my body to the point that it just wouldn’t recover or burn body fat, in fact, I would put weight on as my resting metabolic rate had fallen too low.
• No real structure to both my diet and exercise regimes. The Truth About abs provides all of this in detail, so you don’t have to plan from scratch.
The above mistakes literally led to me wasting hours of precious time in the gym….
The good points about The Truth About Abs
• Everything is in one place, i.e. exercise work outs and nutrition
• Detailed diet plans with calorie totals
• Detailed exercise workouts
• Impact of food groups on metabolic rate and how to burn fat
• Exercise workouts that can be performed at home, with minimal equipment
• Gives a great grounding in the principles of diet and exercise
• Gives you the tools to maintain a healthy balanced lifestyle
The bad points about the Truth About Abs
• You do need to be committed to make the overall program work – but isn’t that the same with most things?
• The nutritional section is quite complex, but is a key element of the book and an area you may have to go over a few times.
• The book could be improved with some online video as some of us are a bit more visual.
In conclusion.
You’ve probably guessed by now that I’m a huge fan of The Truth About Abs. It helped me unlock the secrets to achieving a six pack set of toned abs. I feel great and now live the healthy life style I’ve always wanted to. Without, Mike Geary’s The Truth About Abs it never would have happened. It gave me the knowledge and the tools, to make a complete lifestyle change and has taught me how to maintain it.
